Cats can be fixed so they're not so destructive. we've got four around here, and other than the biggest one's shed problem, not so bad to live with. Furniture's safe................Buck 8) ::)

I’ve had two cats for over 20 years (not the same ones), but always had one male and one female (always fixed as soon as possible) Kept in apartments, condos and houses.  Indoor only except with close supervision outside.  The nice thing about them is they can be left for two or three days with just extra litter, extra food and extra water.  Not declawed, and it took very little application  a high powered squirt  gun (on a couple hard cases)  to stop any clawing of upholstery.
I had a beloved dog for 12 years, but I could only leave him for a day (also an indoor critter, looked like a 45lb Shepherd), without having someone to check on him.

PS the stray kitten we adopted two years ago acts just like a dog.  Follows (all most will heel), fetches cat toys and bring them back to be thrown again.

;D  we have 3 shop cats, 2 are a little over a year old and 1 is about 8 months old,  one of the older is a Tom,  he hides out in the weeds and jumps at the 4 wheelers when we go by,  we usually dodge him if we see him hiding,  this week I was coming back from the barns and it was just getting dark,  I came riding up, slowing down and the cat jumped over at me and I didn't see him cause it was almost dark.  he hit the 4 wheeler just about dead center in the front, the wheels never touched him but he went under the 4 wheeler and rolled about a dozen times, he jumped up looked like what the hell and ran off over to the shop,  when I got off he came running over to me like hold me,   the last few days he sure has been good about staying outa the way.  ;D

Pit bull lookin’ thing found out what’ll happen if ya get too close to a truck with big tires, bein’ driven thru a small lake by a driver what don’t particularly care for loveable, furry l’il creatures anyway.

Last I saw that mutt he was puttin’ up ‘No Wake Zone’ signs ‘round that puddle ‘n ‘e was still drippin’ wet..

Don’t know I’d ah done that. Chance a damagin’ the truck. Dogs got some weight behind ‘em. Try’n avoid those. Cats are light ‘n kinda plyable. Won’t hurt the vehicle - road pizza. Don’t even look in the mirror ta see if I got ‘em.

You's right 'bout them flexible.
Was ridin down a residential street on an old police Motto Guzzi with spoke wheels.  Cat comes boltin outa nowhere, went through the spokes of the front wheel while I was goin about 20-25.  Came out the other side and kept runnin.  It didn't make me go down but dang near stopped ma heart.  I imagine it's did stop shortly thereafter.

These parts the gooberments done figgered there’s revenue on restrictin’ cats like they do dogs. Gottah have licenses ‘n such. Can’t let ‘em run loose. Poochie-Poo ‘er dear Pussy winds up speed bumps, that means the owners get ‘nother one they gottah bribe the city ta keep captive.

SPCA kin scream, yell, stomp their feet ‘n hold their breath ‘til their l’il cheeks turn blue. Don’t stand in the way of municpal fees.

When our dogs got out recently, one of em came back an the other didn't.  We had ta bail her outta jail an pay a bunch of fines.  Still never found out who left the %&$*'n gate open, but everyone seems ta bein real careful ever since.
Whole time before that I thought I was bein a good citizen by havin her rabies tags on her collar--WRONG.  Gettin her outta the pound was like a day at the DMV.

talking bout the dogs chasing, when I was in High School, our drivers training car was a 1960 Ford Station wagon, the school had got it at an Army Surplus Auction, it was still Olive Drab,  when a dog would chase us around town, our teacher had a towel that he would pop the hub cap and tuck the towel in and let about a foot of it hang out to spin around,  I"ve seen several dogs take a pounding when he'd grab it and it'd spin him one big time into the pavement.  they didn't come back out about that.  ;D
We done it for Dixie,  nothing else
