Lil' Buck lost his battle with cancer.  :'(

Kenneth M. "Buck" Batterman, age 63, of Wautoma, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 2, 2008 at his home after a battle against cancer.

He was born July 7, 1944 in Appleton the son of Virgil "Buck" and Pearl (Wichman) Batterman. He married Judith Prochnow on August 13, 1966 in Wautoma.

Mr. Batterman enjoyed his earlier years growing up on Big Silver Lake in Wautoma and spending time at his parents business the former Camp Waushara.

Ken was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, Wautoma, where he served as an usher and was a member of the Finance Committee. He was a longtime member of the Wautoma Jaycees and served as president in 1974, the Tuesday Night Long Ball Hitters, SASS (Single Action Shooting Society), Liberty Prairie Regulators, Fox Valley Brain Tumor Coalition and the Wisconsin Army National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Judith M. Batterman, Wautoma; a daughter, Beth (Paul) Paskey, Berlin; a son, Brett (Gina) Batterman, Madison; his grandchildren, Joel and James Paskey and Pearl Batterman; a sister, Patty (Jeff) Nett, Wautoma; mother-in-law, Dorothy Prochnow, Wautoma; brother-in-law, Jim (Carole) Prochnow, Wisconsin Rapids; nieces and nephews, Kaitlin and Jared Nett, Jay (Gail) Prochnow, Chad Prochnow; his uncle, Ron (Virginia) Wichman; special cousins, Kelly (Ron) Davies, Rand (Mary) Wichman and Ryan (Heather) Wichman; further survived by other relatives and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil "Buck" and Pearl Batterman and his father-in-law, Harold H. Prochnow.

Memorial Services will be on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 4 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, Wautoma with a meal to follow. The Rev. George Kafer will officiate.

A memorial visitation will be held Friday, April 4, 2008 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma and from 2 p.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church. Memorials to Grace United Methodist Church or the Fox Valley Brain Tumor Coalition would be appreciated.


It didn't mention it in the obit, but he was a deputy sheriff for quite awhile. He started when his father was the sheriff.
