Howdy.

Does anyone know if I need to have a .458 caliber bullet for my carbine, or is a .457 bullet big enough?

I am going to start casting bullets myself, and I wonder if anybody know. If not, I just have to slug my barel, I think.

Best regards

A .458 should work okay. Best way to know is to slug it, though. Usual practice is to be .001 to .002 over bore diameter for lead bullets................Buck 8)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

I'd slug the bore as Buck said, should slug 0.458 I'd guess, so if it does start with a 0.459 or even 0.460.  My Pedersoli Sharps slugs 0.458 and I shoot them 0.4602 as they drop.
