Pedersoli Trapdoor 45-70

Howdy.

Does anyone know if I need to have a .458 caliber bullet for my carbine, or is a .457 bullet big enough?

I am going to start casting bullets myself, and I wonder if anybody know. If not, I just have to slug my barel, I think.

A .458 should work okay. Best way to know is to slug it, though. Usual practice is to be .001 to .002 over bore diameter for lead bullets................Buck

I'd slug the bore as Buck said, should slug 0.458 I'd guess, so if it does start with a 0.459 or even 0.460.  My Pedersoli Sharps slugs 0.458 and I shoot them 0.4602 as they drop.
