USFA grip question

Hi guys! New member here. I hope this hasn't been beat to death, but I had a question about replacement grips for my Rodeo. I have found some Ivory Micarta grips meant for the Colt SAA for a reasonable price. Unfortunatley, they are mail order so i can't check fit in person. Is there a decent chance that I can work these down to fit my Rodeo? I imagine Micarta is a tough material to work, but it sure does look good!

Chances are, they will not fit without quite a bit of modification.  For one thing, USFA places their grip retainer pin (that little cross pin in the grip frame) in a slightly different location than Colt.  That problem aside, finding grips that will fit one gun to another can be a real crap shoot.  I have 3rd generation Colt grips from one gun that won't fit on another 3rd gen. Colt.  This is also true with my USFA's.  I have tried interchanging USFA grips and they just won't fit right.

Which is why having the gun manufacturer fit the grips for you at the time you order the gun is best.  They can still do it after market, but it is more expensive as often they have to reblue portions of the gun.  This happened to me when I decided I wanted Tru Ivory grips on my SAA USFA after I got it with the hard rubber stock grip.  I wised up and ordered my Sheriffs model with the Tru Ivory.
