Other than specifying the guns and ammo themselves, SASS doesn't seem to define them very much, regarding how the matches will actually be conducted. Nothing about how many rounds, how far, timed or not timed, etc. Just defining the guns and the ammo, that's it. I've noticed very little standardization, club to club and match to match regarding this. I see nothing in the official SASS rules about how the shooters will shoot. Most matches that I've attended the long range matches have been shot from a bench with a rest. One match is done offhand. I think it is left up to the individual Match Director to determine how each match will be shot, and you will have to ask what's a legal shooting position and what's not at each match.
