O got a copy of the Remastered "Umma Gumma" by Pink Floyd upstairs, but Rita don't like it cause it makes her cat act wierd. :( :( :( :o :o ::) ::) ;D :D

Well I found all theree of Newbrasskey's lost Cities that Buck was lookin' fer.  One has been moved, one seems to have ended up in the next county and the other ain't nothin' but some disturbed spots in someone's pasture.  Course there ain't no tree's or invadin ' and defendin' armies to whoop on them out here. ;D

Annie, only info I have is Caroline, Lancaster, Va. last name of Henderson. according to my eldest cousin, there's still quite a few Henderson's listed down there. And some of them are more than likely distant relatives. Family has been in VA since the 1700's i believe. BC's for the three brothers I have solid info on should be about 1840's without having the book directly in front of me. Maybe 7 kids or so in the family at that time. The book I'm referring to was compiled by my youngest in the late '90's to '01 or '02. Using internet sites. I'm suppossing that Caroline has been incorporated into another municipality as the Nebraska model wouldn't fit there. IE: ghost towns or moved to the RR line after a certain year, etc.. The parents were still in the area as late as 1889, and one of the brothers may have moved back to the family farm after they started passing. I believe possibly it was S.F. that moved back( Sylvester Fair, referred to by the family as Sam) in about 1900 or so. My recollection on the other, W.H. has failed me as to where he ended up( William Harvey, referred to by the family as Willie). At least two maybe all three may have been of age by the CW to have possibly served, side undetermined. Have no idea the names of Regiments that were raised in that county. I do know that Caroline Co. abuts Lancaster, I believe. In the Nebraska search one of the towns was wrongly listed as being in another county in listed info. It was in the next county from what birth info stated. My elder cousin stated yesterday, that that must be why his mother had trouble with getting a passport done. Wrong county for birth info! Hope this gives you something to go on.........Buck 8) ::)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

I heard on the radio tonight that a new book of pictures from Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Review is coming out.

In honor of that, here is a snippet of a song, can you name it?

"How did I meet you? I don?t know.
A messenger sent me in a tropical storm.
You were there in the winter, moonlight on the snow
And on lily pond lane when the weather was warm."

Miz Lee

It aint ringin any bells, (course, I am not at my best tonite, hard to even tye my shoes...)

but here is my contribution for tonite:

All my life I had to struggle, I paid some heavy dues
Squeekin out a livin, playin easy blues
then one day my music made me a millionare
I bought a big old mansion with central heated air
Noe I got more money than I know how to use
Everything a man could want but, I aint got no blues
success for me could only lead to my immediate doom
cuz I cant play the blues in an air conditioned room

You might think I am crazy you might think i am strange
the first thing in the morning I'm gonna make a change
I throw away my money, I move back to that shack
Do what ever I gotta do to get the old feelin back
I know I'd be feelin better with nothing left to lose
When times are bad the less I had, the better I played the blues
I buy myself some turkey and wine and howl at the moon
Cuz I cant play the blues in an air conditioned room.

(wouldn't mind trying for a couple of days......)

Wrong KemoSabe,
the only picture I have of that "event" has you standing at the reception, I remember, cuz "Ginger" was aghast that you were wearing jumpboots. You barely got there...was a quick trip in and out, but were there for me...

do you know the song I left

Curly,

As I do not remember being there, but then you have pictures, but if I was in uniform Jumpboots were mandatory.  I wonder if I could wear them for shooting CAS?  They are issue, but maybe not of that era.

Curley, I am not going to tell you this one right away, because I am pretty sure you know it, but here is another piece of it:

"Now the beach is deserted except for some kelp
And a piece of an old ship that lies on the shore.
You always responded when I needed your help,
You gimme a map and a key to your door."

Dang Miz Lee,
You have more faith in my memory cells than I do....I am not placing it. It has to be one of my fav's since you are so sure I know it...I will probably kick myself when I hear who/what it is....

Today I picked up a cd of Doc Watson's instrumentals, and of all things Minnie Drivers new cd, she is a pretty good singer, (and she surfs too.)
go to her webpage  minniedriver.com and you can listen and view 2 of her songs...I like the one where she is walking around the town...kinda lonely looking....

Okie, Curley, I'll have mercy on you. Here's the full thing, in all its glory:

I laid on a dune, I looked at the sky,
When the children were babies and played on the beach.
You came up behind me, I saw you go by,
You were always so close and still within reach.

Sara, sara,
Whatever made you want to change your mind?
Sara, sara,
So easy to look at, so hard to define.

I can still see them playin’ with their pails in the sand,
They run to the water their buckets to fill.
I can still see the shells fallin’ out of their hands
As they follow each other back up the hill.

Sara, sara,
Sweet virgin angel, sweet love of my life,
Sara, sara,
Radiant jewel, mystical wife.

Sleepin’ in the woods by a fire in the night,
Drinkin’ white rum in a portugal bar,
Them playin’ leapfrog and hearin’ about snow white,
You in the marketplace in savanna-la-mar.

Sara, sara,
It’s all so clear, I could never forget,
Sara, sara,
Lovin’ you is the one thing I’ll never regret.

I can still hear the sounds of those methodist bells,
I’d taken the cure and had just gotten through,
Stayin’ up for days in the chelsea hotel,
Writin’ "sad-eyed lady of the lowlands" for you.

Sara, sara,
Wherever we travel we’re never apart.
Sara, oh sara,
Beautiful lady, so dear to my heart.

How did I meet you’ I don’t know.
A messenger sent me in a tropical storm.
You were there in the winter, moonlight on the snow
And on lily pond lane when the weather was warm.

Sara, oh sara,
Scorpio sphinx in a calico dress,
Sara, sara,
You must forgive me my unworthiness.

Now the beach is deserted except for some kelp
And a piece of an old ship that lies on the shore.
You always responded when I needed your help,
You gimme a map and a key to your door.

Sara, oh sara,
Glamorous nymph with an arrow and bow,
Sara, oh sara,
Don’t ever leave me, don’t ever go.

This here tune is dedicated to Delmonico and his daughter Andrea and his other daughter Andrea (from the other thread....<g>)

It was many years ago when I was twenty three
I was married to a widow, she's pretty as can be
This widow had a grown up daughter who had hair of red
My father fell in love with her and soon these two wed

I'm  my own grandpa, I'm my own grandpa
It sounds silly I know, but it really is so
I'm my own grand pa

this made my dad my son in law and changed my very life
My daughter was my mother cuz she was my fathers wife.
And then to complicate the matter, though it brought me joy
I soon became the father of a bouncing baby boy

This bouncing baby then became a brother in law to dad
and so became my uncle though it made me very sad
For if he was my uncle then he also was the brother
of the widows grown up daughter who of course was my step daughter

Fathers wife had a son who kept them on the run
and he became my grandchild, for he was my daughters son
My wife is now my mothers mother and it makes me blue
because although she is my wife, she is my grand mother too

Now if my wife is my grand mother, then I am her grandchild
And everytime i think of it it nearly drives me wild.
For now I have become the strangest case you ever saw
Husband of my grand motherr, I am my own grandpa!!!!!

ahaaaaaaaaa
