Why Curley thats a song by Woody's little boy Arlo. (not Woody from Toy Story ;D)  It's on my Best of Arlo Guthrie Album, can't remember which one it was on originally.  Course the "Woodstock" Album has got a really good live version of it. :o :o

Course it wouldn't be a proper Thanksgivin' with out hearin' Alices Resteraunt at least once, meber when you could tune 'cross the FM dial in the early afternoon on that day and it was playin' all over the dial. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

<whisper on: Don't let Slim read this or he'll think we are a bunch of "Old Hippies" course that's my favorite song by the Belamy Brothers.>

It'll be our secret, I bout died when I first heard it...and you had it about right
Comin to la is on the back side of Alices Restruant. (where you can get anything you want, ceptin alice...) It is right there with the motorcycle song...

I also like little Arlo's version of City of New Orleans....

OK, folks who wrote city of new olreans....
and no, it was not Willie Nelson...
and to show if you were a real fan what was his favorite baseball team..

David Allen Coe's good friend, the late Steve Goodman wrote that song, but unlike "You Never Called Me By My Name", Steve did not claim "City of New Orleans was the perfect Country and Western Song, but it does talk about trains and gettin' drunk. ;D

Jefferson Airplane Drummer Dies

 By Associated Press

January 13, 2005, 6:16 PM EST

PETALUMA, Calif. -- Spencer Dryden, drummer for the Jefferson Airplane in the rock band's glory years, including the breakthrough 1967 album "Surrealistic Pillow" and the Woodstock festival, has died of cancer. He was 66.

Dryden, who died at his home Monday, retired from performing 10 years ago but hadn't been working much before that. "I'm gone," he told the San Francisco Chronicle last May. "I'm out of it. I've left the building."

A benefit concert last year raised $36,000 for Dryden, who was facing hip replacement and heart surgery at the time and whose home had been destroyed by fire. He was diagnosed with cancer later last year.

"Spencer had a flow, a way of going, an impulse power that was irresistible and unique," the Grateful Dead's Mickey Hart told the Chronicle in the obituary published Thursday. "He was capable of creating a churning, loving rhythm machine for ecstatic dancing."

Dryden was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 for his work with the Jefferson Airplane.

He joined the band in 1966. He had been working as a strip club drummer when he was recommended as the replacement for Skip Spence, who went on to start another noted rock group, Moby Grape.

Dryden recorded on a number of the Airplane's most famous albums, "Surrealistic Pillow," which included the hits "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit"; "After Bathing At Baxter's"; "Bless Its Pointed Little Head"; "Crown Of Creation"; and "Volunteers."

During his stint with the Airplane, Dryden had an affair with lead singer Grace Slick.

He left the band in 1970.

In the '70s and '80s, he played for the Grateful Dead sideline country-rock band, New Riders of the Purple Sage, and a Bay area group of psychedelic rock veterans called the Dinosaurs.

Dryden was married three times and is survived by three sons. His father, British actor Wheeler Dryden, was a half brother of Charlie Chaplin.

I saw Ian and Sylvia in a little hole in the wall in Huntington Beach. I could listen to them sing "These Friends of Mine" over and over...

Ifin you like those folks, how about the Pozo Seco Singers? they were outa Texas, had one good hit. 2 albums, and one of them went on to be a pretty good country singer...got any memories? (Old Top knows this one, specially since we  discussed it before, but a long time ago..)

If I gets to Neb. I'll takes you up on the offer, and even bring ya some imitaiton maple syrup....ahaaaaaaaaa.

For Miz Lee and the Jefferson Airplaine:

I didn't know you were the one for me, I couldnt see
but you wer waiting for someone to come along
and help you out to sing your song, and I was changing

All I see is you
All I feel is you for me

And I would really like to watch you ride
and always feel you by my side
I would really like to watch you ride
All for me

Now I go stumblin to the sky
And I seem to fly so high
I see you I feel you
You have a way of walkin around your feet they never touch
the ground and you are shining.........

I just heard it is going to rain out here MOnday and Tuesday...great news...
my bones sure hurts tonite, think I will stoke the fire, and rub on a bit of linamint.(but, I got the mainspring in the mail so my Dakota is workin fine.)

Del,
Ya and I also look at Sylvia's page every now and then. I really like his writing but think they were better singers together.(and she wasn't too hard to look at either)

Here's one that's sweet and tender for you, Curley!

He walked into the bar and parked his lanky frame upon a tall bar stool
With a long soft southern drawl said I'll just have a glass of anything that's cool
A barroom girl with wise and knowing eyes slowly looked me up and down
And she said I wonder how on earth that country bumpkin found his way to town
And she said hello country bumpkin how's the frost out on the pumpkin
I've seen some sights but man you're somethin'
Where'd you come from country bumpkin

Hear ya go, I sell this CD at work, sometimes I play this song for a couple, ya can see a tear in their eye as the head to the front counter with the CD.  Curley has most likely heard this one.

Take a walk with me- he said
Down by the river
i've got something to show you
Something I want you to see
What the hell for she said
That just leads to more grievin'
I see yer packed and  you're leavin'
On the Rodeo Road.

One more time please walk with me
To the bridge on the river
Where we through down our pennies
Where we wished on the stars
And she - hesitated
Too many nights she had waited
It got so she hated
The rodeo road

He said I brought my riggin' bag
My spurs my chaps and saddle
For I know the time has come to let' em go
So hold on to me my darlin'
As I lean out of this trestle
And he dropped 'em into the waters down below

They stayed for a long long time
Till the spell it was broken
Then they walked to the Antler Bar
Hand and Hand in the rain
Outside the wind sighed
inside the jute box cried
He'd made his last ride - on the rodeo road
There will always be the other
His first lover - the rodeo road

Rodeo Road by Ian Tyson

I will now turn on the 18 inches of Rain CD, got to hear him again.   Folks just take that CD to the cashier and thank you sir they say as they head to pay for it, hand in hand.

Curley, yes the stuff he sang with his ex was good, she has a beutiful voice, but Cowboy music don't require a beutiful voice, fact is it's better with out.  Yes I decided Ian is the John Prime of the Modern Workin' Cowboy.

Annie would this class as a bar song.  Bet they don't line dance or do Kareoke at a bar that has it in the Jukebox
