"Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left."

Capt. Baylor's got some great information in his article "Getting Started in Cowboy Action Shooting" at http://www.curtrich.com/cowboyphotos.html, but the absolute best way to learn about the sport is to go to a local match, and tell 'em you're interested. You'll have cowboys (and cowgirls ) falling all over you to give you help and explain what's happening. You'll need eye and ear protection (although most clubs have loaners for visitors). Don't worry about clothes (but all you need is a cowboy hat, boots, jeans, and a long-sleeve shirt), just GO!

The very best way to learn about the sport is to get to a match and see how it works for yourself. There is plenty of printed information available, but with all due respect, videos and DVDs will only give you a very narrow perspective on what takes place at a match. They will only show you the highlights, not give you a representative picture.

It is particularly important that you go see a match before you start buying equipment. Too many Cowboys start buying stuff, and within a year decide they made a mistake in their initial choice of equipment. If you go to a match, and express interest, shooters will be more than happy to allow you to handle and examine their guns, and will probably be happy to let you fire them too.

Captain Baylor's website is excellent. I learned a great deal about the sport from his site when I first started.
That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!
