I don't know the era; don't believe I've seen the Loop done in this fashion before.
I'm thinking turn of the century ? or a bit later ?

I haven't seen that before, either. My guess wold be early 20th century when makers started playing with the Mexican loop design to come up with more stylish variations of the straight loop(s). This one is interesting not only because it is stitched on the skirt along the seam side, but one piece actually makes two loops. Like a hole is cut out of one wide strap. Thanks for posting the photo.

Howdy All,

This holster kind of reminds me of some Govt. model holsters where the loop is riveted at the rear near the stitching. That might age it to after 1911.

That is pretty neat. Do you know how the other side is attached ?

Only speculation, that is the only photo I saw. :-\
But if I had to guess, I'd say sewn like the opposite end.

Oh, okay. I didn't know if this one was one you picked up.

Yeah, its a similar design to the Kingsville holster I tried to recreate recently. This one having the one piece turned into two straps rather than one.

No Sir, I was perusing on a Colt Board I'm on, a poster had discovered it somewhere.

I do have a modest assortment of originals, but most all are very early to mid-20th century military or Law enforcement.

Major 2, my grandfather wore a holster like this, but without the decorative cuts in the flap, this was around 1915 or there abouts, he wore his 5 1/2 " Colt SAA 45, or his 32/20 in it, it had to have been made very well to have held up so many years, yours looks to be made as well, thanks for sharing  ;D

To be clear, I discovered the photo I don't own this holster, Though I would like to.
Here is another view I found. I believe it confirms the sewn retention of the loop.

It would make a great project to copy.

It certainly confirms that the loop is closed at both ends. I suspected that but the other photo didn't show it. Yes, it would make a good project to copy.
