.44 Russian spencer
« on: October 29, 2013, 07:55:24 PM »
I picked up a "you fix it" .44 Russian caliber spencer kinda cheap. someone had blown the bottom out of the chamber. I got the barrel out of the frame. Then I read where all the Armi sports Spencers are all the same except for the caliber. I found a 56-50 barrel and it came in today. it fits the receiver of the .44 russian like a glove.  I think parts of the loading block will have to be changed a little but that's little stuff. all I need are parts for a 56-50 armi sports spencer. I f I need any at all.  with a little luck I'll have a working rifle for under $800.00 and I'll know it inside and out. I haven't checked the mag. space yet.(the barrel is hand tight at 11 o, clock in the receiver,,, from building FAL's, I think  that's just right.  the Russian looks new, and I was told the owner wanted a custom barrel on his spencer and had a new one built and never shot the barrel I received. this is going to be interesting

The hole in the frame for the magizine tube will need to be opened up for the longer 56-50 magizine tube, also a lower breach block with the Lane type extractor will be needed.I am in the process of converting my 44 Russian Spencer into a 56-45 sporting rifle
