Midwest Regional Guns In The Hills
« on: June 17, 2013, 10:14:31 PM »
Announcing the 2nd annual National Congress of Old West Shootists Midwest Regional Shoot “Guns In The Hills.”

This premier match is being hosted by the Wisconsin Old West Shootists near Glenwood City, Wisconsin on July 19th through 21st, 2013.  We will feature free side matches on Friday the 19th including long range shooting.  On Saturday, the first six of ten stages will be shot and Sunday the remaining stages will be shot.  Awards will follow the completion of all stages.

All NCOWS categories will be offered for this regional match.  Full descriptions of these categories can be found on the NCOWS web site at www.ncows.org.  Any questions can be directed to the match director Tom Spanton, NCOWS #978 (aka Dan Topper) at spanton@frontiernet.net or call him at 715-246-6218.

The WOWS range features a large parking area with plenty of space for vehicles.  Free camping is also available (no hook-ups), and there is plenty of space for tents and recreational vehicles.

Friday night at the range will feature a “cowboy picnic” supper and a chance to get to know other shooters.  A banquet will be held Saturday evening at the Stout Ale House in Menomonie, Wisconsin.  Banquet attendees will receive a complimentary photo taken at the banquet.

Registration forms and a map to the range can be found at our website www.wowsinc.org.  There are also lists of motels, hotels, and additional campgrounds on the web site.  Closer to the Regional, we will publish the round counts for the match.  Be sure to check our web site frequently for updates!

Come and enjoy an exciting shooting experience at the NCOWS Midwest Regional, Guns In The Hills.

Just filled out my registration form. This is truly a Premier match not to be missed. Attached are a few pictures from last years match.

John, I truly would love to come to the MWR shoot but that is the week end for the Kentucky shoot and Knightstown train robbery. Maybe next year. Deadeye Dave

Johnny, I'm planning on coming to it, Pam is coming along and we will be staying in my primitive camp. She
really likes cooking with the cast iron over the fire, so I hope you camp by us and are HUNGRY. Now lets see if we can get
some more shooters, seems like last year there were very few of us other than the local posse

Three questions...

1. Is there water on site or do I need to bring it in.

2. Is there a fire pit in the camping area so we can cook?

3. What side matches will be happening?

Thanks for asking about some of the details for the Regional.

We have water but you will need a container to keep it in. We have a fire pit up by the stages, but most making one at you camp site is ok too.

We will have several side matches and here is the tentative schedule for Friday. They will be starting around 1 pm.
SIDE MATCHES
Card Shoot                Held at the Saloon
      (pocket pistols and derringers)
Speed Pistol               Held at Gun Shop
Speed Rifle               Held at Gun Shop
Enter these as many times as you wish but only the first scores count.

LONG RANGE RIFLE         All held at long range facility
Lever action pistol caliber-- 50 yards off hand, 100 yards off sticks
Lever action rifle caliber-- 200 yards off sticks
Single Shot--  200 yards off sticks
These will be further broken down into black powder and smokeless powder.

Each relay will be 1 sighter shots and 4 shots for score (5rounds total).

Targets are at 50 yards, 100 yards, and 200 yards.

Hope this answers your questions but please contact me if any more come up.
