1851 R-M Conversion problems

Hey yall. I just picked up my 1851 R-M conversion, but am noticing a problem
with the cylinder bolt marking up the cylinder already, as well as the timing
 being off. When I cock it with a two-hand grip with the off hand semi-fast,
 I notice the cylinder under rotates. In other words, it doesn't rotate all the
 way and lock up. I have taken the gun apart and smoothed the bolt off
 because it was extremely roughly finished, but it didnt seem to help much.
Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Some seem to think of this as a simple fix, my recomendation is to always send a new gun back for warranty work.  I had the same problem with a new Ruger many years back and the final fix was a new cylinder.  Had I tried to do it myself or let someone elsetry, it would likely have caused great problems.  That gun ended up going back twice before they replaced the cylinder.

Always fully cock the hammer before lowering it.  Do not half-cock with your thumb and roll the cylinder. Careful handling will minimize most of the causes of cylinder ringing.

Georgian, You mentioned that this happens when you cock the gun semi fast.  Does that mean it works fine if you cock it slowly?  If that is the case, I am sort of stumped.  That is the opposite of what more commonly happens with these (and other) guns.  When cocked fast they over-rotate, not under-rotate.  I'm wondering if a weak/cracked hand spring could be involved.  Does it make any difference if the gun is pointing up or down?

Actually it probably is over rotating, I just thought it may have been under rotating, as it did not lock up fully. I have on order a new
hand and flat spring from VTI, which hopefully corrects the issue.

Actually, you need to "fit" the bolt to the cylinder notches.  You will also have to "fit" the new hand.
