Uberti R&M 1860 question
« on: December 06, 2012, 06:23:51 AM »
What should the diameter of the arbor be on an Uberti/Cimarron 1860 R&M conversion be? Also the ID of the arbor hole in the barrel assy.?
I have one that I recently purchased that the barrel is a bear to get off and on. Thinking if I could find the id I could use a properly sized reammer to chase the hole out and if not that is not the problem, then work the arbor down to the correct diameter.

Thanks

I wouldn't do anything to it.  Send it back.  Tell them you want a different one.

Bought it used, so it's either try fixing it or eat it. I believe I have it figured out and will be able to make it better.
I'd still like to arbor hole ID if anyone has it. I come up with a arbor dia. of .420" on this one. It looks as if the arbor hole was not drilled/reamed all the way to the bottom.

Sometimes those guns can get a raised peen at the back of the barrels arbor slot and just filing that out helps. Sometimes there's just a wide spot on the arbor somewhere.

Thanks, I've worked the arbor down to where it is uniform and the fit is better, you don't have to force the barrel on and pry it off now, I guess I'll just keep at it and try the fit as I go. I bought this one for a back up to my other pair so it can be a project.
