I found a really sweet looking Marlin model 1892.  The finish is what you would expect for a 100+ yer old gun - mostly patina with traces of blue on the receiver, a lot of blue still on the barrel and magazine tube - but no pitting or real rust problem.  The wood is great on it with some handling marks, but no cracks or chips.  It comes with the 32 CF firing pin and the 32 RF firing pin.  Mechanically, fine.  So here are some questions I have.

  • What 32 Centerfire were they chambered for?  32 S&WL/32 Colt New Police or 32 Long Colt?
  • What would be a fair price for the rifle?
  • How did I ever get involved in vintage Marlins, when I already have too much stuff around? (this would of course be a rhetorical question)

Well, I did not act fast enough and it got away, so the qestion is moot at this point.

For your future reference they are chambered for the .32 Colt long or short.
