Thanks for all the prayers. They musta worked, cause we've got zero fatalities so far. Hard to believe that a dozen twisters can drop on a population of 6 million people and no one died. Thank the Lord for that.
A few notes that might help folks (and maybe you already know this):
1) In a disaster, text messages can often get through when service is limited. Evidently text messages don't take as much bandwidth as would a voice call. Local emergency officials stressed this last night: text, don't call.
2) Non-Texans will be surprised to find that most homes in this area don't have basements. Our soil expands and contracts so much, that basements will crack. If you are around these parts in a twister outbreak, go to a building with a basement or other fortified structure. I saw 2 big newly contructed brick homes this morning that were completely flattened. The bricks and mortar became projectiles.
3) Prayer works.
