belt for 2-piece buckle?

Does anyone know of a pattern or spec's for a Civil War military belt that used a 2 piece buckle.  I understand the general idea of the thing, but don't know the specifics of the hooks and keepers.  I am considering making the hardware myself, but would like to make it as close to right as possible...without buying an original to copy.

The saber belt that I have (as well as other belts I've seen - including originals) utilizes a brass hook that is riveted on the end of the belt.  This passes through the solid loop in the buckle and then the belt folds back on the inside of the belt and the hook is placed in a hole to adjust the size of the waist.  There a a number of holes spaced out to allow for adjusting the belt size.  A leather "keeper" is then slid over the doubled back belt to keep the folded back portion tight with the belt.  Mine has two keepers - one is near the buckle and the other back towards the hook.  The hook is brass - basically a piece of 1/8" brass brazing rod that is bent is a U shape - one end is flattened out and that end is drilled and then riveted to the end of the belt which is tapered to a point.  My explanation probably isn't too clear but hopefully you'll get the idea.  The opposite end of the belt is run through the other side/part/half of the buckle, folded in and riveted with two copper harness rivets.  Unfortunately, I'm in AZ and the belt is back in MI or I could take photos of it.

Check out Will Ghormley's Frank James holster pattern. It has a Fair Weather Christian belt pattern in it, and is what I will be using for my 2 piece Officers buckle set.
