The question and answer about Blackpowder guns was interesting, but I will not be holding my breath for actual production or a price point below 1k.

I don't understand all the negativity towards USFA. They are still the best build SA revolvers in the world. What gives ? Is this all about them Remington revolvers ? I never cared much for Remingtons anyways. They plan to build something,,then don't build it.......what business HASN'T done that ? That's purely a business decision that concerns manufacture and profit.  USFA ain't social services, guys.

I'd LOVE to see them build the 1873 Winchester. Now THAT would be a firearm !

I agree with you Marshal.  I think most of the negatively comes from those that don't own one.  I think they are among the finest SA's being produced today, and for the money, the best value out there.

For me, it's not negativity but more like frustration. I have one of their lightnings and a SAA already ;D. I've been to their factory and met Gary Grainger, but that may be my problem, I know enough about their equipment to know what it's capable of doing. What I don't know, and it's none of my business, is how they run their business. I will say they have one of the cleanest plants that I have ever been in and I've been in quite a few. Most plating lines look like a poster child for a superfund site but theirs is so clean I was standing right in front of the plating vats and didn't even realize it until I noticed the rectifiers! I want to buy a nickeled 3 1/2" double eagle in the worst way but to order one and have to wait a year to maybe get it made just doesn't sit right. To have work done on a gun that takes a year is understandable if the shop is busy but you know that you'll get it when they're done. Right now with USFA I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling that I'd get my gun at the end of the wait :-\. I hope their supply steadies up and things settle down cause they make one of the finest guns I've ever seen and it's made in the USA to boot!

I've owned two USFA's and while I agree that their SAA's are the bee's knees, that's about it. Now I've never owned a Colt :o. I can't personally speak intelligently as to which manufacturer is better and it's not economically feasible for me to find out. I fell on hard times awhile back had to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Now you can take it or leave when you read the following. For those of you who have had great experiences with their USFA's I'm happy for you, but I hope you never have to experience the indignation of not getting out of it what you put into it.

That was the eye opener for me. As Old Iron said, it's frustrating.
A work in progress.

I own a few USFA's and Colt's and will say that both company's lack in the information department.  In the summation of things, USFA has definitely done a lot of good for SAA enthusiasts by creating some very high quality products and forcing Colt to clean up their act.  I am very impressed with what USFA has been able to do and the quality they put out.  I realized a long time ago that if you want the high quality USFA provides, patience is needed, but that is true for anything worth while.

About the long wait, bet if your Turnbull he does not wait a year for a order. Latest CDNN catalog shows a number of Turnbull SAA offered with a disclaimer that their made of USFA components.

I saw that CDNN offer also.  It seems these were guns sold to a small distributor that recently went bankrupt and CDNN picked them up cheap.  Seems like a great deal if they're in pristine condition.
