Modifying ejector for USFA Storekeeper
« on: August 14, 2011, 11:31:51 AM »
I knew going in that the ejector rod was too short to positively pop out my empties, particularly with the stock cylinder pin.  I'm considering milling out the head to clear the cylinder pin, but want to experiment on a non-$$$$$ USFA part.  Brownell's has Colt rods for a reasonable price - any reason not to use a Colt or even a Ruger part?  I'll just mill in into a crescent to clear the pin.  Advice welcomed.

USFA did a mod to the ejector rod housing that lets the ejector rod head slide around the base pin.   Don't know what your serial number is, but the "early" Storekeepers did not have this mod.

mtone is correct. my later model has that modification.

and i believe these new style "cammed" housings are available for sale directly from USFA.

it allows cases to be raised just fine, but i will admit, it don't actually "pop out my empties".
