Question about shotgun shells
« on: February 07, 2011, 11:14:01 AM »
I have a 20 gauge Stoeger couch length gun I was considering for use in NCOWS. I'm wondering what factory loads are acceptable in NCOWS. As far as the rifle and pistols that I have covered with 45LC cowboy loads. Thanks

Shot 7 1/2 or smaller.  Shotgun loads are basically the same as SASS.  We shoot some knock downs and some swingers, range is normally 15 yards or longer.

Thanks Joe, I saw the SASS requirements but nothing in detail in the NCOWS rules as listed.

No problem, if you try to do an originals character with a shotgun, the rules change for the shotshell.

If you decide to shoot in the Originals Class, all are currently shooting a revolver and a rifle.  You can shoot any two guns, but I have never seen anybody shoot a shotgun.  Proposed bylaw change up to make the class 1 revolver and 1 rifle.

Yes I will be starting out shooting a rifle and pistol. I thought that eventually it would lead be two pistols, rifle and shot gun in another class?

Good way to start.  Some of us have returned to the single rifle and pistol.  Which ever class you choose it is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Speaking of clothes that is the expensive part. I spent enough to buy another gun shotgun and pistol.  ;D

Bob.....
One of the most important aspects of the Originals class was to simulate any two guns that would have been used in actual circumstances during the time span that NCOWS represents, whether it be two rifles, two revolvers or, what ever combo you would have on hand in any given situation. I am against any changes that does away with that concept. I don't understand what benefit that change would give us since we don't score like the other classes.

Bill,

I should have said - There is a proposed Bylaw change........

I didn't propose it, just noted that it was on the agenda.
