I looked at their web site and all I can say is their line of 1873 pistols sure look like my Uberti Arms Cattleman. If it is a good gun as far as I can tell if made by Uberti. If it is then, I like my 5.5" and have plans to buy another in 4.75". Perhaps later I will go for the 7" cavalry version also but haven't decided yet.

I have one of their 24" '73rifles in .45LC. Mine looks and works fine. Works good, accurate, decent looking. Really haven't had any troubles at all. Others have not been as fortunate. I think they made a decent product, but their QC was apparently in the crapper. Seems like you either got a very good one or you got a turkey.

Just my $.02 worth of observation..

One of our group shoots a Chappy 73.  The finish is not as good as Cimmaron or Taylor.  He has not had major issues with it but he has had a few functioning issues.

Good choice.  You'll enjoy her for many a season.

If she is used, pull the magazine spring and look at it under good light.  Uberti usually puts high carbon steel springs in there which rust real quick.  If you see an orange tint to the spring, clean the mag tube with some CLP and go find you a stainless mag spring.  One place that I know carries them is Long Hunter Shooting Supply.

Also check the back of the loading gate.  The teat on the back can break off.  Have it reinforced and it will last forever.

I live a charmed life...got my 1866 (Uberti) from Cabelas mail-order back in 1997...took the magazine spring & follower out for cleaning in (about) 2005, after I replaced the broken mainspring. Very little fouling residue & no rust on the spring, follower or tube. I left a light film of CLP on all the parts before reassembly.

This is  my go-to rifle. Best guess is I have around 20,000 rounds, total on it. My secret to success ?
44-40 cartridge, black powder, big-lube boolits & proper cleaning technique.

Slim
