Just wondering, on a couple of my cartridge belts there is a slot (the width of the top strap) that is under the buckle.  Looks it is to slip the belt through..??  What's the purpose of this slot?

If your gunbelts are the money-belt style, the slot is for the tongue to slip through to prevent all those gold coins you got for your herd from slipping out.

Ranger belts have the slot for the tongue, it's the Ranger way.

If anyone has a photo showing how this works I'd love to see one.
Thanks

Highlander and Joe, here is a quick picture of mine . Hope this will help.  I used Will Ghormley's pattern from his Belt Pack. All of his patterns are great.

Thank you Gun Butcher .
I thought that is how it would work, but seeing makes things much clearer.  :)

Not having that much gold that I would carry to a match, I usually forget to tuck it in.   :( :(

As always, thanks for the information.  I was "almost" sure that's what this was for, but I'd never seen it done that way (or never noticed anyway).

I always learn something new here.
