Nice craftsmanship and nice stones look to be an older vintage style. The lighter stone looks to me from The Royston mine in nevada
They are known for that type of matrix which is some of my favorite.I'm still thinkin on the green stones and i'm thinkin that color is hard to find.

Dang nice pieces. :)

I like a patina, but i like my stones polished.I take them to a jeweler here and he does it for free, just a couple of hits and they are just right.

You'd be right about "older vintage" they are from about 30s-40s era. the thunderbird I wear around my neck is also late 20's to mid 30's

With the older pieces you don't want to mess around with the finish. Especially some of the old cabs. The indians used to put cardboard or even straw under the stone to cushion it. The under filling deterioates and then the cab is loose in there and also if it hits the silver too hard may crack.

thought ya might enjoy it.

oh I too prefer the green unless it is old Bisbee turq.

I don't know what it is but i like turquoise..Good info on that backing, somethin i didn't know, that may explain why the stones in a bracelet i have are loose,it's an oldie.

yup

I have a sandcast belt buckle the same way..the proper way to fix it is to take the stone out and repack it. but very few folks can do that anymore. (and get it to fit in the original space properly)

Also about color, very little turq is a true blue anymore. (only some of the most expensive like Bisbee and the like. most of it is color treated or at least stabalized.  I had a watch band that had 24 chips of turq (not chipped ) but each chip was a solid chip of turq. It started out a bright blue, and the oils from my body changed the colors of each chip to a different shade of green. I actually prefer the green, Except for the Bisbee Blue and Sipider Mountain. My favorite was from the old Morenci mine. green with a golden color matrix.

You ever seen Austrailian Turquoise? Only two kilos ever found that was good enough to cab, found it while mining for copper,i just saw some on a show last night. If you watch the estate jewelry show with Sue they have some awsome Turq on there sometimes. They were showing the Australian last night. So rare it's not documented. These are the stones that are a tad loose.

yup that was what my morenci looked like. I had a bracelet with five (count em) five matched stones, all on old coin silverand like a klunk I sold it.
i keep a picture to look at everynow and then so's to beat myself on the knob.

Also sold a fine looking burial bead that I strung on to melon shell. Guy that appraises indian stuff thought it was Santo Domingo.

oh well, stupid is as stupid does. Still have my buckles, and a jaclaw and a ring and a necklace or two.

want to take a trip to AZ next month or so...just to see what I can see.

good shootin

btw nice bracelet

Rick
Here are a couple of my belt buckles. the one has a pretty old claw in it.  The second image is a pair on necklaces I got when I sold indian jewelry. The one on the right is my favorite. It is a Jaclaw. the indians would wear these at the bottom of another bigger necklace. They would get them for participating in dances. I could only afford this part. even at that it cost me $67 in 1974.  next pix is a shot of some old strands of beads. And finally are some hair pipe chokers I made myself. but they are all authentic stuff. Bone hairpipe, no plastic, real glass beads. They are not cheap to make..
hope ya like em.
