The bullet you use for CAS will be fine for deer but depending on your load you might want to step it up some.

What powder are you currently using?

I've posted on this stuff in other spots.
Uberti 1873 in 44-40.  24" Barrel, 20" shouldnt make a big difference.  209 Gr. soft lead bullet, GOEX 3F powder, filed to 1/8 of top and compressed in w/ bullet.  Last year this gun took 2 antelope, a huge mulie and a big whitetail, all over 130 yds.  All w/ one shot, through the ribs, all went straight thru and all animals dropped stone dead in a few yards, one in it's tracks.  The 45 Colt will use around a 250 grain bullet and hold plenty of powder.  Do the simple math.  It'll have all the oomph you'll ever need on deer size game.  Smokeless?  In a 92 you could easily use 9.5 gr.of Unique, or more.  But you won't need it.  Give it a try!
