Kirst or R&D?
« on: August 26, 2009, 08:09:11 PM »
I have a 61 Uberti that I will be converting to a 38 Colt for use with a sleeved barrel or hollow base bullets in the .36 barrel( haven't decided yet).

I am leaning to the Kirst instead of R&D. Any opinions or testimonials or better yet picture of your successful projects?

River Jordan        My conversions are R&D,at the time I converted them Kirst did not produce the ones I was after. Although if I were to convert them today I would go with Kirst,no question in my mind about it.   JMO   Adios  Sgt.Jake

Any particular reason(s)?

Many reasons, availability, standing behind the product after the sale, and the design of the product. I only wished Kirst had made the conversion,I was after at the time ,now he does. I'll back Jake's opinion.
I had mine done years ago using R&D parts and it's good my gunsmith is a saint because they were a pain in the ass to install.
Chambers are too tight and after only @ 50 rounds had the plate break apart (which R&D said happened 20% of the time) on one and then the other.
Haven't tried the Kurst but like my pal Jake I'd have gone with them if they were available back then.
