;D Now gents, please don't buy all of them here in Texas since I've got a hankering for one of these too.   :D

QuoteChambered in the hard-hitting .45-70 Gov't. cartridge, this rifle's modest weight and handy 44-3/4" overall length make it an excellent choice for the big-game traditionalist. Blued, 6-groove, 1-in-18"-twist round barrel and no-frills case-hardened receiver. Quality oil-finished hardwood stock and fore end. Crisp, precision Pedersoli trigger mechanism. Ramp-adjustable rear sight; blade front sight.
Weight: approximately 8-3/4 lbs.
Barrel length: 28".
Overall length: 44-3/4".

I sure like the looks of that Rolling Block , that could even be light enough to carry Deer Hunting .
Vintage Deer Hunting with a American Classic .

Flinch Morningwood

IS this a reproduction of an historical rifle or just a couple good ideas brought together?

The Italyuns are getting closer to an ideal Remington # 1 Sporter but not there yet for me.  I'd like to see a metal foreend cap and a full octagon barrel instead of round or half round for that matter.  The wood is profiled correctly fore and aft of the receiver and the stock lines aren't bad.  I could live with one of these for a hunter....but like anything else I'd like to see it up close and try the action.  And the triggerguard profile on that Italyun ain't right either!

Its taken decades for them to get it right...they and Remington Customshop are capable of it but it just never seems to come out right

Here's my 44-77 sporter.  Wish it had the single set trigger and rough&ready sight. Pic is not good but'll have to do.
