44/40 deprimer die,,.38 spl brass??????

A friend gave me about 800 pcs.,of .38 spl., brass( 500 pcs. nickle),and loaned the set of dies(rcbs carbide),. The end of the deprimer ( the pin& the screw cap that holds the pin) , looked like it was used for a center punch.  Using the .38 case holder and my 44/40 deprimer i'm depriming the .38's,,,,,,carefully,,,,.The .44 pin is not sticking in the .38 primer hole,,buuuut,am i doing any damage to the .38 primer holes??

Remember, you are not resizing the case with the 44/40 die. Probably will not be a big problem, but who knows.
