Front sight
« on: January 24, 2009, 11:34:39 PM »
Howdy all, just brought home a new Uberti High Wall in 45-70.  Along with it, came a mid range vernier rear sight and guess they call it a globe front sight that has a hand full of inserts.  Looking at the front sight, it has the standard blade dovetailed into the barrel.  There is also a set-screw in the blade.

Question... if I loosen or remove the set screw, can I use a brass drift to remove the blade and insert the new sight or is this something that needs to be done by a gunsmith?  Fairly adept with tools, just dont want to be messing something up especially on a new gun.

Thanks for the help.

TRM    I do loosen the lock screw and drift out the front sight blade with a nylon tipped punch, has worked for me a couple of times, without undue problems.    Adios  Sgt.Jake
