C&B Cylinder Interchangeablitiy?
« on: May 08, 2012, 11:01:38 PM »
Question came up over on the SASS wire and some recommended the answer would be over here.

The question was regarding the Pietta replacement cylinders (available on sale frequently at Cabela's), and whether they would fit in ASM or ASP revolvers?  One post said no for the ASM swap.

I have a personal interest as I have a brace of ASP NM Remmies in 44, and have Pietta NM 44 spare cylinders, as well.

I Would sure be happy if the Pietta cyls fit in my smaller grip frame ASPs, also?

Any one tried it?  Raven?

Thanks in advance,
Harvey

We have installed Kirst converters into ASM's
I have no records as to what fits what....but Pietta converters can be modified to fit Uberti's and ASM's etc.
Uberti cylinders are shorter than Pietta"s but are the same diameter and share most other details.
So while an Uberti percussion cylinder might fit perfectly it is very likely that the Pietta can be shortened to fit.
The one real issue I have seen on some ASM Colt models is cylinders of smaller diameter than those currently offered.

You might want to check with HH as he may have one and can check the fit of several brands of percussion cylinder.

Thanks Raven.
Have you ever fitted one to Armi San Paulo(Euroarms)?    If so how did they compare to Pietta?
Thanks again,
Harvey

Just put a Konverter in a Euroarms 58 Remington........An Uberti droped right in and only needed the hand bent slightly toward the center of the gun.

I know this is a Colt Forum but this is the only way I can tell yas ,that the Pietta will work or how it works in my ASM... and that a Ureti works in an ASP/Euroarms... if this souldn't be posted here please remove it...thanks.
Have a Pat. Pend 5 shot gated Kirst .45Colt Pietta that works in my "Rattlesnake" Fredric Remington type ... hand may need to be shaved a hair as at halfcocked it won't freely spin, but holding the hammer just before halfcocked it spins like a roulette wheel.
I'm looking for a good deal on a pair of .45Colt conversion cylinders in Uberti make for my two ASP Rem also...

Thanks Jay on that ... do you have any Uberti's like that I'd like at least one for my two ASP(Armi San Paolo/Euroarms) would like a gated Kirst for um but an R&D/Howell would do me fine ... they would also work in the two E.N.Santa Barbaras I have left... the one I sold semi engraved took a Pietta, but my fully engraved '58 takes a Uberti Conversion or C&B cyl. the Plain ufired as new SB also takes the Uberti cly. ... only ASM I have left is the Collectors "Rattlesnake" ... But I'll call ya and see what up thanks for the Number Raven...
