Finally got to shoot an NCOWS match.

Holmen, WI was host to a Two day shooting weekend July 12 and 13. SASS on 7/12 and NCOWS on 7/13. I finally got to shoot my first NCOWS match and it was indeed fun. Both different and very enjoyable. The pards were more laid back. They cut me lots of slack and didn't poke too much fun of my duds.

I'll be back. I like shootin' something other than 'stand and deliver' 10-10-4 run 'n gun stages.

Welcome to the fire Dick. You might consider coming to the NCOWS Eastern Regionals here in Indiana in October.

It was fun shooting with you Dick. I had a great time. It was my first shoot since last year's NCOWS Nationals. What did you think Of the stages? I really liked the last one where you had to hit every target. When Mike writes the stages he purposely uses odd round counts. SASS went to 9 or 10 rifle rounds on every stage because if there were more people complained about an uneven playing field

Gee real like isn't fair and who would go into a gunfight with only 10 rounds in a rifle that held 17? ( never knew just how many that 30" 73 held until Sunday

I agree with loadin' the guns full. I also like the variety of round counts. From now on, when I can get to 'em, I'm goin' to shoot NCOWS matches. For those looking for a more SASS structured match, there's plenty of SASS matches. I enjoy both and I enjoy the pards at both. It would be unwise to try to equate one with the other. Dogs and cats are both pets, but Dogs is Dogs and cats is cats.

Glad you finally made it to an NCOWS shoot, Dick!

If Will was there, I know you were treated well.

Ottawa Creek Bill's son, William, has a long barrelled '73, but I think his is 28" long. Was this 30" rifle perchance one of the few '73 Muskets?

I know that when William is shooting, he can darn near poke the target if he misses with that looooong barrel - but since he seldom misses, he hasn't had to do it!

Will's got himself a damnyankey gun that he can load on Sunday and shoot for TWO weeks with. Thing holds so much ammo that it changes balance as he fires. Sure does a number on the 25 targets on the last stage. . .
