Faux ivory grips
« on: April 25, 2008, 03:42:22 PM »
I am looking to put faux ivory grips on my Richards Type II. I have seen some grips by Grip Maker. I was wondering if anyone has purchased any of the grips that River Junction sells? Anyone know who makes the grips for River Junction? Let me know what you think.

I believe R J carries Buffalo Bros. grips...
I have a set on my 2nd Gen Colt , the fit was a tad small ( a bit of frame edge is felt ) .
I got mine on- line from another Buffalo Bros. vendor, they were great grips so there was nothing to do but go with it.
Mine are the antique with a crack works so well with the worn finish of the 30 + year old gun It just chalked up to the normal Ivory shrinkage look.

I have another set waiting for the 1860 donor gun I need to make a Dallas Stoudemire belly gun.

I'm currently finishing the carving of a set of American Holly for my Remington conversion
when planets align...do the deal !

Take a look at this site:

You have to do some fitting but it's a good product.

Howdy Pards and Pardettes.
Pappy, Pard try Bar-S grips their Tru-Ivory is the next best thing to an Elliefant's Tooth.  It is not cheap, but it is worth the price.I have their grips on several sets of Revolvers.  It doesn't cost any more for grips for the new Beretta Larramies than it does for a set for a Ruger Vaquero.  They make every set of grips individuely from a billit, not from a molding.  They have four or five shades of Trui-Ivory and a material that they call Tru-Ebony.  I think that it looks more like Buffalo Horn, however any way that you look at it the grips look good.

I have some real ivory grips on my Model 60 Smith. They have weathered and look neat. I would not put real ivory grips on any pistol that I shot very much. I have several pairs of Ajax faux Ivory grips on my Rugers. The grips fit well and they look good on a blued gun as wellas stainless.
