I lifted this from a SASS Wire post made several weeks ago:

Head knife: A sharp edged cutting instrument used in the leatherworking field to remove unwanted hunks of flesh from the thumb and index finger bones.

Leather punches: Any of several sharp edged instruments for creating cuts in leather, generally comes in many cutting shapes and sizes which should never be punched through the work into a bare table top. This is seldom a problem as you will most likely always have a piece of expensively tooled leather underneath the work for backup.

Sewing machine: An extremely expensive machine that takes years and a fortune in leather to learn the proper use of. Its sole purpose is to save time and money over hand sewing with $.50 needles.

Clicker and dies: Performs the same task as above mentioned head knife with the added advantage that it even removes the now useless bone, all in one step.

Mallet: A twenty dollar tool used to create swolen bleeding thumbs and fingers. Actually a very educational tool as it teaches you, close and personal, how the body can shed purple finger nails within a week.

Foot press: As with the above mentioned sewing machine you can use this several hundred dollar machine to save money over the use of a twenty dollar mallet. It really speeds up the purple finger nail demonstration for those in a hurry.
