Why can't I find a colt SAA in nickel finish?
« on: December 27, 2007, 08:26:27 PM »
Howdy folks, I've wanted a colt SAA for about two years or more. Last year in january I got put on a waiting list for a Colt SAA with a nickel finish in .45 colt. since then I've been calling them(a local gun dealer) and asking them how long it will take for them to get it. All they tell me is "maybe next month" or "maybe next year some time", finally I couldn't wait for a sixgun any longer so I bought a Taurus gaucho to satisfy my cravings. It's a very nice gun but I still want a Colt to go with it. Does anyone know why I can't get one with a nickel finish?

I'd try a different dealer as yours obviously doesn't know what they are doing.  Nickel isn't nearly as popular as it used to be, but they are still made and fairly easy to obtain.  I just typed in "Colt" and "Nickel" on GunsAmerica and a whole slug of them came up.  Here's one.  http://www.gunsamerica.com/976974981/Guns/Pistols/Colt-Single-Action-Revolvers-3rd-Gen/Colt_Single_Action_Army_Nickel_Black_composite_Eagle_grips_45_Colt.

They usually cost about $250.00 more than a standard blue case model.  The average price for the blue/case is around $1270.00.  You should be able to get a new nickel .45 for around $1,500.00.

Try Joel Rezac - he sells under the name 'ultona' on Gunbroker - www.gunbroker.com

Phone - 1-402-784-3557

Email - philrezac@yahoo.com

He has no problem getting Colts - and he'll treat you right.

Thanks guys, I might just do that, but I'll give it a little more time because the dealer I'm trying to get it from says they can get it for $1300 that's at least $100 cheaper than the other places I called. Still I'd rather get it for $1500 than not get it at all.

I'm also considering a USFA single action army, I'll get it if I can't get the Colt for a reasonable price.

Howdy gents,

I've contacted my gun dealer recently, and they told me they can probably get me a Colt SAA in February some time because of the Las Vegas shot show. Does the shot show help sales or what?

The Shot Show is where all the new products get unveiled and where all the Factory Reps are.

Your dealer is probably going to ask one at that time, rather than contact Colt for the piece.

I think he's been stringing you along a bit, since 'probably' is a good term to ask for a higher price, as it gives the impression that he's working hard to get you one.

Meanwhile - there are nickel Colts on the different sites, and they're available through dealers who do more business with Colt.

Good Luck.

Give Scott (Sixgun Shorty) a call, he's helped a lot of SASS shooters find that special Colt.
