I have concreted dates for The Pale Horse Posse shoot in southwest , Virginia.

The dates well be as such,,

gathering at the range can be from the afternoon of Friday the 15th of September ,,with the shoot starting at 10 on Saturday the 16th. We will also shoot stages on Sunday the 17th, with cut off time near as possible to 3pm. This would allow folks that have to travel some time to get a 'jump start' on the trip home.

There is primitive camping at the range, (in the forest so wood is VERY PENTIFUL)..wather is not availabe at the range, so one needs to take water into account.

Unless there is a 'fire ban' we may do all the campfire cooking our heart desires.

Ok,,the range is in Wythe County, Virginia. I will have directions,,with proper route numbers availabe shortly. (theres are roads I travel so much, I dont even look at..or know...the actually route numbers of one) The main route is south from the town of Wytheville on R-21. Will have to get back with ya'll about the route number of the little side road we take to the range.

Hopefully good interest will be shown,,,this is a SUPER , covered range (shoot rain or shine)....the only draw-back,,,is for long range rifles....our pratical range distance is 100 yards. But, if you wish to bring the 'sharps and hi-walls by all means do so,,,everyone (including me) would like to see ya hardware and we can always shoot 100 yard targets,,,unofficaly probably,,,or as a 'side match' perhaps.

If interest in an NCOWS posse is evident, thus it shall be. By spring, an NCOWS 'The Pale Horse Posse' will be in place, with regular shoots scheduled.

Feel free to email me at   marshal_deadwood@yahoo.com    I will have some more specifics later this week,,,and as soon as I come up with others,,,,but the MOST IMPORTANT !!! ??? HELP WITH IDEAS ON AN INFORMAL FIRST TIME SHOOT !

Your IDEAS and SUGGESTIONS and HELP is what will make this fly. Please do not hesitate to contact me,,,with WHATEVER advice, knowledge or suggestion you have.

Now, the historic aspect will be 'stressed somewhat',,but for this informal shoot,,we need to just get shooters OUT THERE. You guys that have been down the river can help,,more than I can,,,explain to the 'newbies' what this is all about,,what NCOWS expects,,,etc. So, your help is needed, and appreciated.

More to come pards,

Marshal Deadwood

Marshal Deadwood,
I have to make sure but it looks like I am off that weekend, if my better half doesn't have something already planned for me I should be able to make it!  ;D
I will know for sure in a day or so. I'll email you from home tonight with some ideas for the shoot.

Marshal:  Great to see your first step taking place.  I am checking with some other members here in KY to see if we can round up a few to support your effort.  We may be able to have a presence there.
Keep on endeavoring.

Gentlemen,,this is absolutely great. Thank you.

I think that there will be enough shooters in this area, and ones that will attend from neighboring areas, to make NCOWS the best choice.  The shooting, with the added emphasis on 'historical correct' seems the very way to approach the entire subject. I know that's about the only way I'd personally be enthused, is to add history and historic action together !

Again, any suggestions would be MOST appreciated.

Hope to see a 'heap' of you folks in September. It will be a grand time for sure.
