Shootout at Coyote Gulch
« on: June 04, 2007, 01:22:40 PM »
Howdy,

WOW!! What a fun shoot! ;D ;D  Tracy, Chad and the rest of the folks of FDMR can be REAL PROUD of the shoot this past weekend.  The stages were fun and exciting and the folks were great!  The lunches were real tasty and I gained 2 pounds on the trip. :( ::)  I had a really GREAT time and will be looking forward to next year.  Thanks FDMR for a most wonderful time!

Dr Bob, DITTO, Definitely a great event. Dr Bob, Michele, Books and myself went up together and camped (period correct), along with Lone Gunman and River City John, we even had a great time after the range was closed. The posse we shot on was great I believe almost everyone was shooting BP, and duelist. Thanks again to the people who made this a great NCOWS experience.      jt

It was all that and more. Finally got to meet Cuts Crooked and Smoky Three Toes, always nice to put a face to the name.

Had a little bit of rain but as it turned out not any amount such that caused grief, only apprehension. All in all the weather during the actual shooting times was perfect for shooting black powder, not too hot and always a bit of a breeze to move the smoke. Hopefully there will be pics a plenty, as each posse was given a disposable camera to play with during the shoot and turn in at the end. I liked this idea a lot.

The FDMR people put a lot of work into this shoot and really made us feel welcome. We were even provided wood and water down at the primitive camping site which was greatly appreciated.

Plus I am of the opinion that seeing Sandy Thorpe in her wooly chaps was kinder on the eyes than viewing Lone Gunman wearing his. ;D

Yup! The FDMRs put on the nicest annual that I've found in the midwest! Good food, good friends, and even reasonable weather! ;) (that last minute shower at tghe awards ceremony don't really count, do it? )

Only one shooter on our posse that wasn't shooting duelist, with good reason though, and almost all BP shooters too! And on top of that purt neart half of the posse was shootin' Remmies!!!!!  8) (there was a smattering of Open Top shooters too!) 8) ;)

All in all, I hated to close the book on this one! It was a lotta fun and provided some good challanges fer the participants, a number of whom did some pretty danged good shootin!

Way ta go Pards!!!!!!

I can not say enough about all the fun I had shooting at Coyote Gulch, Tracy and Sandy, Chad and Mary sure made Joan and I feel at home, and then there was Tuco (sp) ? and I shooting Top Cowboy in the Working Cowboy class,  WAIT WAIT I'm not done yet, yeah I lost but had a BLAST in doing so. Was nice to talk with Dr. Bob on Fri. as well as River City John, Books and Trap and his wife had a nice talk with them on Fri. as they were setting up camp.
Met some real nice folks at the State Park where we stayed. Cindy and Norm made us feel at home Fri. evening had a good time talking with them. Rob and Lonnie (sp) had us over Sat. evening had a real nice time there as well. Chad and Mary were right next door really nice people. Looking forward to the Shootout next year..

Wow!  That really is a great idea, which I will promptly steal!  I never have time to take pictures at a shoot, but having a "posse camera" ought to pretty much guarantee some good ones.

Good food, good company, range was beautiful & weather cooperated. The only problem I had was being distracted by that beautiful Henry rifle Lone Gunman was shooting.  ;D :o ;)

I finally succeeded in prying the photos out of the corrupted memory card I used last weekend.  ::)

Here's the primitive camp at 4AM.  Even with a nearly full moon it wasn't quite this light, it's a 30 sec shot @ ISO 1600

Thanks for the photos.

Those are interesting tents.  Are they pyramid or triangular?

Dr. Bob you always have interesting clothing and the diversity that you can find is amazing.  They and you always look right and proper.

Looks like it was a good time.

BRS;

There were 3 pyramid tents and one common tent in the primitive camp.  The KVC contingent were in the two pyramid tents with a fly between them.  I and Dr. Bob went fast and light for this trip.  We were comfortable, but not our usual "Boom Town Luxury."
