We may put him there at the Nationals. ;D

Yep, and don't forget to pack the 'sign' to set him under, right?!
Congrats Brian, hope all goes well with your group and we can all swap stories on down the line!
Best regards and good shooting!

That is exactly the photo op that I was thinking of. ;D

And a hearty good luck to the L.A. enterprise.

The difference between the NCOWS minimums and that other group are pretty easy to acheive.  You don't even have to read a book, just look at the picture.  And there is no difference in expense.

Brian Why: Ahhh..., I just got it. Your response to my original post; but I was not being sarcastic! I guess you would have to live 50 minutes due east of Detroit to get it, but the point was I did live in LA (Woodland Hills actually) in 1971, I worked in Burbank briefly, ate in Bob's Big Boy and sometimes truely ponder why I ever moved back to Michigan to go to graduate school. I was back out there this past summer, drove past my old place, drove thru Burbank, spent a reflective moment at county line, and the mention that you were starting a posse in a place where I had some really good memories got me a little misty - I had to search for that photo.

So, best wishes on your posse endeavors and believe me if I could, I would be at Bob' Big Boy next Thursday evening. I would very much like to kite surf and shoot in an NCOWS posse all in the same day!!!!!! ;D

I'm located in La Crescenta and I'd definately be interested although I just read this (and missed the meeting). I've wanted to actively participate in NCOWs for awhile but Bakersfield is a bit far to travel for events, especially since I have a horse that eats up a lot of my time. I'd like to shoot some but the whole SASS super-competitor thing put me off (not trying to start any flame wars here!  :D) and since End of Trail moved out to New Mexico, it's been pretty dead for me Western-wise.

Anyway, I'd definately be interested and feel free to PM me. Thanks!  ;D

P.S. I grew up in Woodland Hills and my Mom still lives out there!  ;D

Thanks for posting, Angus.
It's this kind of interest that I believe will help make to LA-area posse a reality.
Hope you pards can all get together and get something started.

Let us know if we can help.

I sent you an email Angus.

I'm having a hard time making the PM thing sit up and beg for me so anyone interested in joining the LA Posse email me at brianwhynot@yahoo.com and put NCOWS in the subject line.

No problem Brian- got the e-mule. Considering the somewhat fragmented state of all things Western out this way, this is overdue. I've got a friend I might be able to convince to join up. He's pretty historically minded and likes his shooting (and he's a much better shot than I). He's also got a thing for the 1873 .45-70- likes to reach out and drive those tacks!  ;D

Just a reminder that our first planning meeting will be tonight at Bob's Big Boy in Burbank at 9pm tonight. Interested parties should show up and look for the black bowler hat.

Brian,
I cannot make it tonight, but am interested in NCOWS. I live in Acton just a stones throw from the Desert marksmen's range. That is where I shoot.

Yep, I think many are interested in an "after action report." How'd it go, Brian?

The Big Boy combo is still delicious, but the meeting was a bust. I guess we had it too late for most people.  We need to find a day when more people can make it. Possibly a Saturday or Sunday as it seems most have regular jobs. I can host it at my place if y'all don't have a problem going Downtown.

Angus,
You can come and shoot with us at the Desertmarksmen range south of Palmdale in the Angeles National Forest. We shoot every month on the 3rd Sunday. We're not into the competition/gamer thing, (there may be a couple that are, but not the majority). We just like to shoot and have a good time. If you are interested I can give you directions. You don't have to be a member to shoot either.

I'm interested in NCOWS and the Working Cowboy Class. As I never feel right carrying 2GUNS!. Wearing one crossdraw is a s natural as breathing, but two turns me off some. I shoot Original Remy's, so I could go for the Original class too.

More than anything i just want to shoot my guns and have a good time doing it. As my old tag line says "Time passes....Hits Count"

H C Charlie, We would love to have you in NCOWS and the Originals Class, But one thing , you don't have to Shoot Original guns to shoot Originals Class. I think that might be a mis-conception that some have. Just wanted to point that out.

Charlie;

That's not what the originals class is about.  Most of us "Originals" shoot reproductions.  The "Originals" class is about assuming a role of a specific occupation during a specific year and then documenting everything you are wearing &/or carring, to that occupation and year.

For this shooting season I am a Railroad Dective in 1879.

I agree with you about carring two guns, but it is carring two long arms that doesn't make any sense to me.
