My limited reseach says they came out of France and may have existed by at least the 1850's.  Of couuse the brassiere was used there by the 1880's, how ever it seems the Doughboys brought it to this country when they returned from France after WWI. ::)  Must of seen it in stores. ;D

A lot of places in the world wear G-strings.  Some of them even leave off the skirts in order to show them off.  Monica called hers a 'thong'.

Uh, yep, and it reminds me of a song going around a few years back...

"Without a thong,
her day would never end.
Without a thong,
her knees would never bend.
When things go wrong,
her man ain't got a friend,
without her thong."

Or so it was said, her mileage did vary.
Best regards and remember, its just a pair-o-dee, and with 3, you get egg rolls!

  Howdy Pads!

Reminds me a Neil Diamond song from a few years ago:

Thong thung blue
Everybody wears one
Thong thung blue
Every dresser has one

Me and you are subject to blue now and then
But when you take the blue and make a thong
You wear them out again
Wear them to go out again

Thong thung blue
Weeping like a willow
Thong thung blue
Sleeping on my pillow

Funny thing, but you can wear one it with a smile on your face
And before you know, start to feeling good
You simply got no choice

[break]

Me and you are subject to blue now and then
But when you take the blue and make a thong
You wear them out again
Wear them to go out again

Thong thung blue
Everybody wears one
Thong thung blue
Every dresser has one

Funny thing, but you can wear one it with a smile on your face
And before you know, start to feeling good
You simply got no choice
