For several years now I've been looking for a particular pistol and I finally found it.
It's a Colt SAA New Frontier in 45 Colt with a 5 1/2" barrel.  This one is brand new and unfired, manufactured in about 1981.  Turns out these babies are unusual and scarce.  The 3rd generation New Frontier 5 1/2" 45s were made on left over 2nd generation frames and are numbered like a 2nd generation gun instead of 3rd.  And to top that off, it seems there were less then 70 made.  I was just looking for a nice shooter - had no idea I was getting a rarity.  I must be living right or something - should I buy a lottery ticket now, too?  Gotta love it when a plan comes together!

Sagebrush,
I've always thought that configuration was about one of the nicest SA's made.  The ones I've seen have been plumb purty.  I've looked and looked and now know why I've seen very few in 45 with the 5.5" barrel.  Congrats!  MS.

A friend of mine scored one of those a whole back. Great piece you picked up, there. Congrats.

I haven't figured out the picture posting thing yet.  When (if) I do, I'll get one up.  Did get out to the range today and it shoots very nice.  About an inch or a bit more high and almost dead center at 15 yards.  When it's warmer and I have more time I'll adjust and get the poi dead on.  MG - won't be able to get to HOW this time around - gonna be playin' dolls with the wife.
