Another Trivia Question!

How many of the various USFA SAA models can you name?  This is for the SAA's only - no Lightning rifles, semi-autos, etc..

Gary,
I certainly don't remember the "House Pistol."  What was it?

This is probably cheating.  House Pistol:  Sheriff Model in the white with a 4" radically tapered barrel. The front sight was half round. The barrel was roll marked House Pistol. Only one was made. Two at the most.
I'll add a couple more;
  Sheriff model
  Bisley
  Bisley Sheriff
  Bisley Flattop

I seem to recall plans for a .17 HMR caliber but I'll be darned if I can remember the name given to it.  It wasn't on the USFA web site for very long and I don't know how many, if any, were ever produced.

In retrospect I wish I would have scored a Flat Top and a Bisley Flatop, but then again I didn't imagine USFA was going to fold in not too long.  :(

Hey, GaryG, The old Armoury Originals were the ones that were suppoded to be built to Colt OEM factory specs, right? I remember they weren't cheap, costing almost twice what the standard SAA cost. How many of them were ever built and were any made in a caliber other than 45?

A couple of the .17 were built (2 maybe 3).  I remember one keep coming back and finally had to get rebarreled.  The Old Armory Originals were marketed as being to Colt specs but in reality, it was the same frame but with a smaller cylinder window to accomodate the Colt sized cylinder.  Anyone that wanted one I tried to push them towards the Pre War which was a much better deal for the money.  Not to many were built don't remember how many.  Most of the parts of the USFA revolvers would fit into a Colt with the exception of a 3rd Gen.

I don't recall the Border Patrol name but there were some guns made in colors.  As I remember 1 each in brown, tan, green and something else.  I think they were in 357.   Never did a 40 S&W (maybe 1 & I seem to recall it was in a Lightning rifle) but there was a 9mm cylinder available for the Rodeo, SA & Pre War.

The colors were Olive, Tan ( which looks kinda pink ) a mustard , and Black .
Somewhere around here I have a photo of the grouping , they were matte and very peculiar.

Notice the cylinders were done in the Rodeo finish (maybe Dome Blue).  The colors were a coating and when put on the cylinders, it significantly reduced the notch dimensions.

In addition to all the above, USFA made less than a dozen Richard Masons Conversions (see image below).  I have two in 44 Special, in consecutive serial numbers.  I bought them from Turnbull a couple of years ago. They were re-nickeled with color case hammer, fire blue trigger and screws.  Gorgeous guns.

There was a set of the colored guns that sold on GB. It has been awhile back. They appeared NIB.  I remember they were very unusual looking. They had an elongated knurled cylinder pin that appeared blued or black as it really stuck out from the rest of the firearm. They were the colors as described by Major 2. If I remember correctly I think they were in .357 cal. but not for certain. I was hoping I could find the auction but it is too old and has been removed.  The cylinder pins looked like the one on this USFA Shot pistol currently for sale on GB.

DagNabIt, that is truly a nice looking firearm!
