Trimming 56-56 Spencer Brass

I bought a set of 20 brass cases for the 56-56 Spencer. They are cut-down 50-70 Cases that measure about 1.160". I'm loading a Rapine 535370 380 grain bullet. I did a single test and it will not load in my original Spencer rifle. I think they only need trimmed a small amount. Is there a cheap way of evenly trimming these without going to the expense of buying a special trimmer? I have a drill press if there is a flat grinding stone that could mount in it. Thanks.

I saw that link. I only need to trim a small amount. Those techniques look like they are more appropriate for removing a lot of stock. So I plan to put a Dremel grinder bit in my drill press and use it to remove a small amount of brass. See http://www.toolking.com/dremel-8215-aluminum-oxide-grinding-stone

I understand what you want to do, but how do you plan on holding the cartridge case?

Build a jig by drilling a hole (9/16" or what holds tight without deforming the brass) in a 1x4 or 1/2" plywood board. Recess the bottom  with a router for the case rim -- but not too much so the case protrudes just a bit so it is tight when clamped onto the drill press table. I think I will try it first without recessing the bottom -- If it rocks too much, then I will recess it. Make sure the case is centered on the grinder bit. Set the stop on the drill press to cartridge length I want. Then grind away. If I need to support the case walls while grinding, I will insert a section of 1/2" hardwood dowel that is below the top of the case. When done, I will put the cases in the vibratory cleaner to take any minor burrs off the brass.
