51 Richards-Mason: How is the back plate attached?
« on: February 02, 2013, 05:55:47 PM »
I've been shooting open top cap and ball revolvers since 1970 and 73 SAA's almost as long.  I just got my first conversion revolver, a Cimarron Uberti 51 Richards-Mason in .38.  Beautiful pistol!   Shoots well too.

I can see the conversion back plate is a separate piece but can't figure out how it is attached since there are no screws.

How did they do that?

The conversion breach ring is retained by the arbor.  A shoulder is machined at the rear of the arbor to hold the breach ring in place.  That is the commonly understood method.  The truth is ...... TA DA ...... MAGIC !!!!

Move along, nothing to see here .........
