.22 Remington Revolver
« on: November 14, 2012, 09:32:00 PM »
Posted this on the Remington forum and received underwhelming response. Thought I'd try here.

Just watched an episode of American Digger where they were searching around Tombstone. In a small cave they found what they said was a rare .22 cal Remington revolver. It looked like a relic grade 1875 but with a round barrel. Per the local expert about 2000 were made in .22. I've never heard of such a critter and was curious if thus was true.

Thanks

Remington produced the Remington Iroquois Revolver in .22 caliber between 1879 to 1886 or 1888 depending on the source.  Remington says there were about 10,000 produced.

This was a full size revolver. Looked like an 1858 or 1875 frame. They pulled it out, dancing around like everyone should be excited and proclaimed it a rare .22 caliber Remington. When they took it to the local dealer, she showed the same enthusiasm and gushed on about it. Like I said, I'd never heard of such a thing . I relized most of these shows tend to stretch things a bit, but this was realy out there.

Osiyo Mingo,  I can not remember ever seeing or reading about a full size Reminton of that period in .22, but then my memory is not too sharp these days.

About them shows, I fully agree.  The only place reality is in those shows is the title.
