The price of Italian rifles ?

Have you noticed the price of Italian single shot rifles (and alll other guns but,,,). There is very VERY LITTLE cost between an Italian Sharps and as SHILOH ! A base Shiloh is 1800.00....hell'va deal when you consider some of the Italian ones are up in the 1700.00's.
I'm not knocking Pedersoli or any of the others,,, I have a Pedersolli that shoots just as good as my Shiloh,,,I sold my brother a Rolling Block that shoots as good as you'd want a buffalo rifle to shoot. But, the Ped. Sharps...umm,,,not quite as refined as a base Shiloh however. You have to admit,,a Shiloh will give you a better investment.

I have a grand, upgraded to the hilt Shiloh Buffalo rifle in 45-90...I'd thought about selling,,,,,,,but I'm reconsidering that,,,,,,,or might have to consider the stupidly cheap price I was willing to let it go at. As a point of decency,to the two guys that were kinda serious about it,,I would hold my old price for  you if either of you were still interested. Hell'va rifle for what I was asking,,and if I wasn't nearer 60 than 50,,,,I'd not LET it go.  But with my back not being top shelf,,and not getting any younger...the gun needs a more physically fit master.

OK< I got off the trail...glad I have my cowboy guns now,,as I don't know if there'll be anymore. A '73 Win list around 1300 from Cim,,and nearly that from Taylors. Good LORD ! That's a decked out assault riifle. Just too much. I'd never get into this if I had to get new guns now.

The benefit of Pedersoli rifles not holding their value is in the used market.  I just picked up a like-new Pedersoli Sharps for $900 and there are better deals out there.  The other guy's loss is my gain.   Sad for the seller, but I just couldn't justify more than twice that for an Montana rifle at this time.

Not so sure that the Pedersoli brand isnt showing the strain on the dollar in the used market also.  I am seeing some used ones that are being marketed for higher prices than what I paid for my old Cimaron Billy Dixon version.  As we all know, that a used price posted is not always what they go for but the base asking price is certainly higher than I remember them being ten years or so back!  Griff, that used price is not much below my new gun purchase price!

I thought about selling my gun, still an unfired safe queen in 45-70, a few years back and getting one of the newer ones in 45-90.  In a still unexplained moment of reason, I asked myself 'why would I think that I would shoot a 45-90 when I never shot the one in 45-70?  My memory is not what it used to be BUT I do think that Billy Dixon actually owned a 45-70 at the time he used a borrowed rifle for the famous shot??

Dixon actually owned a 44-90 at Adobe Walls.
The lowered dollar vs euro , has made the price difference between a made in the USA sharps and one imported from the european countries so little as to be much consequence for 3 or 4 years now.

Ranch am I correct in remembering Billy never claimed to be aiming at the Indian he hit, but rather the group of indians that was out there?

I don't remember whether he said he was aiming at a particular target or not, but he did say it was just a scratch shot.

One of the web sites I have read does say he had to aim at the group and it was tightly grouped due to the size of the area they were at.  I think it was claimed that he tactually took a shot or two away from the target to get his sights ranged??
