American Frontier Firearms - selling price or suggestions

Hello,

First .... I am not as proficient as many of you..... but am looking forward to learning. I have read many posts on the site and it has been invaluable in helping me figure some things out. I am also new to SASS and hope to find some local competitions to participate in soon.

I have always liked the feel of the 1860 Army. It just feels right in my hands and so I became a conversion man.

Several years ago, I purchased a new American Frontier Firearms 1860 Army conversion in .44 colt. I have never fired it and am now looking to offload it as I have a few Italian guns for shooting. I have another project in mind, and am hoping this could fund that.

I paid $795 for it new back in the day, and was wondering if it is worth more now that they are no longer in business or is it worth less?

AmerIcan Frontier assembled their guns from Armi San Marco parts.  Armi San Marco is famous.  Famous for real poor quality control.  There are no replacement parts for ASM based conversions.  You may well be lucky to realize about half what you paid for it new.

AFF did use some ASM parts.  But, they were fit and finished in the U.S. just like USFPA imported Uberti parts for their original guns.  I have found the AFF 's to be pretty good quality.  The problem is that Uberti is now importing new 1860 conversions for $500.00 or less.  Thus, As Coffinmaker noted, you will be lucky to get half of what you paid if it has been fired.  A few dollars more if NIB.  Some people actually do collect the things.

Thanks for the 411 .... I was thinking about half would be palatable.

I am going to put the funds toward a Colt signature series and add a Kirst Konverter.  I will post some pictures when I am done.
