Yup, it's a cool gun. The price is high compared to the value in my hands. As I said, I like the Browning 86, have fondled them and did note that they had a top tang safety. The safety is UGLY! It's also not needed given the half cock that John BROWNING designed into the gun.
So, I'm still looking for a good used Browning 86 in 45-70. It's my dream gun. Of course, should a fine Winchester 86 in 45-70 fall into my greedy paws for around $1300, I'd snap it up in an instant.
I'm not "against" Turnbul guns. I just can't afford them.

If you can find an "early" Browning they do not have the tang safety and rebounding hammer. There was one on the SASS Classifieds just a couple days ago (might still be for sale).
Don't discount the Chippa either. They are really nice. If you see one in person you'll like it and they are at your price point retail. Should be $200.00 less wholesale. Try Taylors, they stock them. Look here:
