Best sight's for a Sharps

One of my son's has a Quigley Sharps (Pedersoli) that he don't use, so I'm gonna confiscate it from him for a few years! I shot it some when he first got it, but I don't like the sight's on it. I am going to get new sights for it, but I want to get the right one's the first time! Any idea's will be appreciated.

Buy a sight for your Sharps from Montana Vintage Arms there not cheap but they are a good sight. Some of the boys downhere have them on there Sharps.  Enjoy shooting the Quigley.

As stated above, take a look at Baldwin Sights.  I have several sets and they are excellent. Very sturdy and settings always stay the same when you change them back. Not cheap but one of the top sights made.

The absolute best is a Hoke for the rear and a Baldwin for the front. Link for Hoke below.

I have a Shiloh Sharps Quigley 45-70 and put a long range vernier sight from Riflesmith on the tang and a Riflesmith front globe w/spirit level..excellent sights, not cheap($380)
 On my C Sharps High Wall 38-55 I put a Hoke mid range vernier tang sight  sight and Riflesmith front globe/spirit level.($450)
On my 76 Winchester 45-60, i used a Riflesmith reproduction mid range vernier tang with thick base, exactly like the original Winchester long range sight for the 76.(about $240) and a Riflesmith Beach front sight($180)
Of the 3, The Hoke is by far the finest vernier tang sight made in America today.
The Riflesmith sights are right up there though with the very best.

I use both front and rear from Steve Baldwin. I would definitely get a Soule type ear, regardless of manufacturer. Baldwin are as good as any, but so are MVA. However, for front sights, the Baldwin has a real advantage. The sprit level is within the sight, instead of at the rear like the others. So the sun cannot affect it. I was once in competition on the range at Arcadia, Oklahoma. It is a north facing range. in the 300 yard rapid fire stage the sun was just at the right angle to explode into my sight like a supernova, making seeing the target imposible. From then on I carried electrical tape to cover the level in such situations. However. with the arcing trajectory of a buffalo rifle, you realy need that level beyond 200 yards.

MVA all the way. No comparison to the fit finish and overall quality.
