Heritage Rough Rider big bore grips

These grips appear to be one piece, rather than two halves held together with a screw, like I have seen on Rugers and Colt SAAs. Can these be converted to the style like Ruger, Colt, and any of the others with two piece grips? Thanks!

These grips?  What grips?  Do you have a photo or link?  Anything is possible.  You can drill the frame for a locator pin (assuming the frame doesn't already have such a hole) and install two piece grips.  Problem is there are virtually no aftermarket parts for the Heritage Rough Rider.  You would probably have to make them yourself or have them custom made.  Unless Heritage offers something as an accessory, it would cost almost as much as the gun to get a set of custom grips made.

I believe those start out as Pietta parts, and then assembled by Heritage. So grips fpr the Pietta 1873 SAA's should work.....Buck

True, that's why I suggested there might already be a locator pin hole in the backstrap.  Only problem is I have never seen a Pietta Great Western II with two piece grips.  I have four, all solid.  Their catalog shows no two piece grips.  Heritage shows replacement grips for their .22s, but no optional grips for the Rough Rider.  Most people actually pay more to get the one piece grips, but to each his own.  If it is simply the look the poster is looking for, you can buy a screw and the brass inserts and install them on the one piece grips.

Thanks for the replies. My thought was to add black rubber like those on a Colt SAA. I like the look of the Vaqueros with the black grips which resemble Colt. Anyway, I'm looking heavily at a Heritage vs. a Vaquero and just wondered if anyone had tried replacing that 1 piece handle on a Pietta with grips. Whichever one I get, I'll go through that little "what can I do to it" that a lot of folks like to do to new "toys" (not that a gun is a toy). Thanks again!
