Black Powder and Colesterol

Sort of an offbeat thread here. Had to go in for a stent (95% blockage) last October. Doc said my colesterol was high. Thought that odd, for years had a high colesterol diet, but never had a problem with it. Ahhh, but then I was shooting my BP revolvers and rifles nearly every weekend. Haven't done much in the last few years. For curiosity's sake I did a search on the effects of sulphur on colesterol. Guess what? according to some studies, it reduces it quite well. So, I guess not only is BP fun to shoot, it is also heart healthy???

Hope that info doesn't hit the halls in Wash DC. The FDA will have to have a multimillion dollar investigation lasting 2-3 years that will involve hiring several thousand government employees. During this time they will ban the sale and use of blackpowder only after everything is said and done, come to the same conclusion you probably read. Then figure"Ah, lets just keep it banned". Ah, our overstuffed and power hungery federal bretheran.

Is breathing the smoke enough or do you need to ingest it?   My cholesterol is always normal and I do nothing diet-wise to produce those kind of results.   But I do shoot lots of holy black and heartily inhale that wonderful smoke.

I'm convinced of it.  I've been shootn' the Holy Black for well over 40 years and my cholesterol is well inside limits.  Another 40 years of so should confirm this.

DD;  Why are you so pessimistic?  I've been shooting the Holy Black for 40 years already, and the longevity charts say I can do it for about 20 years more.  My Cholesterol readings have always been great!

It was meant to be just a little tongue-in-cheek, but it is one of the things I have noticed. We shoot it, it gets on us, we breathe in the smoke, we clean the guns, we handle the powder, let's face it that's a lot of contact. Of course, the FDA will start investigating and then they'll have another reason to try to get rid of it.

Here comes a sideswipe, if not a hijack!

Think of the benefits of frequent use of Black powder to ones mental health.  It is extremely beneficial to a shooters self esteem, if not outright ARROGANCE!  We just know we are following the true path.

And if a positive mental attitude isn't a benefit to overall health, I don't know what is!

I was talkin' what I want, not what is.  I WANT another 40 years of shootn' Holy Black.  I may not get it, but I doubt that it will be because of my cholesterol level. . . .

But, if I do get another 40 years, I'll be in that "Super Duper Senior" class, huh?

     I've been taking 100 grains of GOEX 2f in a shot of good Polish vodka (bottle kept in the freezer) every morning for years.  My cholestrol is fine, i'm regular and don't take any back talk from anyone!

Across from the Trail Glades Range entrance in S .Florida is or was BBQ Joint.

They served the best Wild Hog BBQ, after every Shoot (Palmetto MuzzleLoaders or The CW Musket/carbine Shoot)
We'd stop , ah ! heck we'd craved the piled high pork & coleslaw sandwich on a BIG poppy seed bun.

I figure then , the one (BP)  made the other (BBQ pork) a health food

I had high cholesterol for years and I told the doctors that it was a family thing. I shoot nothing but the real stuff no fake or wanna be powder. My heart doctor worried that I had some blockage did a heart cath. While on the table he said in a very shocked voice, David your as open as a 20 year old. You don't even have the start of any blockage. You have just confirmed what I believed for a long time. BP shooting is good for you.
