John Joseph Klem (aka Johnny Lincoln Clem)

John Joseph Klem (aka Johnny Lincoln Clem), the heroic Union army drummer boy who served with the 22nd Michigan Volunteer Infantry. He joined at age 10 in 1861. Present at the Battle of Chickamauga, he was chased by a Confederate colonel attempting to capture him, when John Klem raised his musket, shot and killed the soldier. After the battle he was nicknamed the “Drummer Boy of Chickamauga”, a name that would give him fame throughout the rest of the war and his life. Born August 13, 1851.

Hey SS,

Thanks to this post, I just did a bit of research on another piece of Americana that I didn't know about before. There are some amazing stories when you look through the history of our country.
