This was a pretty standard Pedersoli Sharps that I bought used about 15 years ago.  It is chambered in .45-70 and could shoot alongside those Montana guns without a blush.  Several years ago I had Taylor Sapergia in Prince George customize it A La Gemmer.  He kept the barrel and action and replaced everything else with Hawken bits.  The stock is Maple.  I asked Taylor to put the widest, staightest butt plate available.  After seeing it I made the boot to broaden and soften the blow to the shoulder.  The MVA sight came on a bit later.  I generally use the 457193 bullet, or the Gould.  I have heavier bullets but 1,000 yard ranges are rare here.

That is my dream gun!  The only thing I would want different would be a shotgun butt plate.  On my Hawken muzzleloader, I am not fond of the cresent plate after 20 rounds.

That is a gorgeous rifle Charles.  I really like shooting my Gemmer Sharps.  People are always asking me "what kind of a rifle is that"?
It's always fun to have something a little different.

Taylor Sapergia is retired.  This was one of the last custom jobs he performed.  As he lives in Northern BC, Canada, I think you would be better off finding a good gunmaker in the States.  It cost me plenty as it was!

Hi Sir Charles

I pick up a Pedersoli Gemmer a few years back and had it rebored to 50-90.

Great guns heavy but nice.

Sir Charles deMouton-Black

Mine is not too heavy to carry as it started out as a regular plain grade .45-70.  Gemmer was the sucessor to the Hawken shop.  His tradition was to build rifles for later-day mountain men.  They were hunting rifles.

PS;  I believe that Gemmer only modified paper cartridge Sharps rifle.  When he customized cartridge rifles he used the Spencer.

Interesting i did not know that.  my Gemmer has the heavy barrel. kinda makes the 76 chap. feel lite

I only wish the wood on mine look as nice as yours. but it gets sum ruff use hunting

Sir Charles deMouton-Black

My wood was a coupla bits of really nice maple.  Turned out a lot better than I thought it would.

My reference to Gemmer was from a book on the Hawken boys.  Can't recall the name. It was in the library were I used to live.

 :)Good  Morning,
Sir Charles, i love your gun :o :o It is AWESOME! A thing of beauty! And I love the Butt Plate, but as you said it is a Killer :o
That is why I made me a cover for mine. And it makes a big differnce!
This winter when I am cooped up in the house, i am going to make me a new one! The one I made works great but, it is plain looking and I made a few mistakes ::) ::) So I plan on doing the ut most cover that I can do!
Thanks for showin the Beautifull Rifle!

Just got around to readin the old threads again, and low and behold I find my dream rifle. ;)  That is one fine looking rifle.  Slick as a Louisiana card sharp.
