Gunsmithing
« on: October 10, 2008, 08:40:04 AM »
I have a LNIB 51 R&M 51 Navy....
I'm going to send out to Longhunter for an action job
this is the project ...
Premium Action Job: Includes Parts & Labor

1.
Hone All Internal Parts and Replace Springs
2.
Replace Stock Springs with Lee's "Gunslinger Spring Kit"
3.
Rework Sear and Hammer for Crisp 2 1/2 lb. Trigger Pull
4.
Open Forcing Cone to 11 degress
5.
 Square Barrel Face.
6.
Check Cylinder Gap and Head Space.
7.
Set Timing and Advance Bolt Drop

They have offered this @ no charge
Relieve Hammer .007" on each side to eliminate drag marks. Then the hammer is machine jeweled (plain polished on request)

I'm leaning toward the Jeweled finish ...or would Polished serve me better ? ...Opinions ?

Since jeweling and polishing are purely cosmetic, neither will serve better than the other.  Pick what you like.  The only thing, and the most important thing, I see missing is making sure the barrel to arbor fit is correct.  If it is not, and most Ubetis aren't, you will never be able to get a consistent cylinder gap.

Albeit slight, Jeweling does hold more oil .
Looks nice too .
